Local nonprofit North Hills Cares sponsors summer meal programs as detailed on the North Hills Cares website.

Citiparks' Summer Food Service Program

The Citiparks' Summer Food Service Program provides healthy and delicious breakfasts, lunches and snacks to children up to age 18 and mentally disabled individuals up to age 21. Call 412-571-3291 for locations and hours of operation.

PA Harvest of the Month

PA Harvest of the Month logo

NHSD participates in the Pennsylvania Harvest of the Month program which promotes the use of local, Pennsylvania-grown produce in school meals.

Developed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Project PA, the program aims to provide healthy options while also supporting Pennsylvania farmers and producers.

In 2021, North Hills was one of 10 Pennsylvania school food service departments chosen to participate in the PA Harvest of the Month's Recipe Standardization Grant program.
